Took a short trip to Illinois, asked the rental car agent if they had any Fusions, got a Titanium with a sunroof. Promptly looked at classifieds for CPO models when I got home. Edging towards big for a city but man was it nice on the highway.

Was it an EcoBoost? I'm curious what kind of mileage you got out of it and impressions of the engine.

I convinced my mom to get a Titanium Hybrid to replace her CTS. She loves it and gets ~40MPG combined.

2.0L EcoBoost. Engine had enough power for quick accelerations from a light and passing at highway speed. Also got me back up to speed super quick after a brief pause on the highway shoulder. Turbo lag is there but not really noticeable.
Mileage was just a tad lower than sticker and pretty much as expected. Did 90% highway driving at 70mph with the A/C on and got 30 mpg compared to a sticker of 33.

Where in IL were you this weekend?

My mom also drives a Titanium, but an Energi. Very happy with it, except the trunk is small (but at least the rear seats fold down).

Bloomington. Went with my girlfriend and her parents to meet her grandfather for his birthday.

Is the truck smaller because of batteries?

Yeah.

How does she like the fit/finish in comparison to an older CTS? Did she feel like the Titanium was on par or a step down?

I'm sure its a great car, but IMO this is even better.
If I was in the market for a midsize sedan I would look real hard at a Mazda 6. But then I would see if I could afford a Charger R/T.

I was going to ask for this or the 3 if they didn't have any Fusions. Bit curious about them.

For the most part it seemed comparable. I mean we're talking about a new $30,000 car versus a 3 year old ~$37,000 car so it's not like there should be a big gap even if the Fusion does have more humble origins. She hates the myfordtouch though, I appear to be the only person on the planet that doesn't have an issue with it in my Focus ST.

Is it wrong that I have the biggest crush on this one?

Haha, there's more than you think. The complainers are always the loudest. I've heard very positive things about MYFT from the right people. And from the sounds of it, it's better than Cadillac Cue so....
It's nice to know the Titanium model is that nice. I know it's not competing with a high trim XTS or anything, but a decent CTS, that's cool.
Wait until you see Black Label Lincolns....good lord that interior....

Hey, whatever floats your boat and makes you happy. I like the Fusion's style more but appreciate Honda's seemingly unending reliability.

I really, really like these cars, having spent a lot of time driving one. I probably like them more than one should like a plain-ish car.
About the only two (minor) complaints I've had were the city mileage isn't fantastic, and MyFordTouch can be a little slow to respond at times. But other than that, great stuff.

Yeah, MFT was a step down since I'm coming from UConnect. Still workable though. And apparently the hybrids clear up the somewhat low mileage right up. Given the choice though I'd totally rock one of these for long highway drives (I cross Pennsylvania semi-frequently and take ~2 hour drives more so) and then dedicate something tiny for the city.

I hear great things about UConnect. And MFT is usually perfectly workable—in fact, some of it works really well. The handsfree phone integration works much better than in my Acura, for example.
The Fusion is great for long trips, quiet and comfortable but you're still connected to the road—it's got a bit of an Audi feel to it. The steering is surprisingly tactile, especially for a mass-produced electric setup. And for whatever reason, it just fits me—I can get a comfortable seating position and happily spend hours driving.

Funny, I thought the same thing. I got one as a rental for a month, titanium with ecoboost. I was fairly impressed with it. Still ended up buying a 328i, but was still impressed.
